Tuesdays on the WB, after Gilmore Girls
A Navy SEAL with a sorted past and a bad boy reputation is given "one more chance" at a command, but he's in charge of the most unlikely group of solders — dolphins! FINS! exposes the fast paced, high-stakes world of mine detection by following Captain Mike Willis (Gary Busy), marine scientist Jane Gatewood (Carmen Electra) and the ten dolphins of Task Unit 55; including K-Dog (voice by David Spade) the chirpy and lovable lead dolphin.

Fresh off his barely dismissed court marshal, Captain Willis begs his long time friend and apologist Admiral Fry (Larry Hagman) for one more command to “set things right.” A reluctant Admiral Fry approves Task Unit 55 – Dolphin Mine Hunters (code named FINS) the pet project of marine scientist Jane Gatewood. After much struggling over who knows best and who is “in-charge” plus a ton of sexual tension (sort of like Scully and Mulder), Willis and Gatewood find common ground while working to find mines in order to protect a vital shipment of medicine and food sailing into the Persian Gulf.
# Episode Two #
The FINS team is sent to the Florida coast to protect an island hosting a private meeting for diplomats. Coincidently, a local drug smuggler is planning a big shipment at the same time. Courtney Love guest stars as the drug smuggler that seduces Willis into thinking Jane and K-Dog are really running the drugs. Willis struggles with lust over loyalty when he draws a gun on Jane and K-Dog at the end of the episode.

K-Dog gets mistaken for one of Sea World Orlando’s ULTRA TRICK TEAM during a deep cover operation. Stuck on the inside, K-Dog desperately searches for a way to get word to Jane that he needs extraction. Drew Barrymore stars as the voice of C.B., dolphin leader of the UTT. Meanwhile, Admiral Fry is caught up in a scandal when his winning score card from the unit golf tournament goes missing.

Captain Willis’ pre-written obituary is accidentally left unsecured by NAVYTIMES.com and gets published on The Smoking Gun. This mishap sets off a madcap scramble by the team (anticipating an inheritance), to locate Willis’ will. Jane dresses up as a hella-sexy vixen and puts the moves (and we mean moves) on the Capt’s Lawyer Walter Jackson Jr. (guest star Bernie Mac). Admiral Fry checks Willis’ homeless drinking buddy Chuck (Jack Black) out of detox to crawl the bars and off-base speakeasies looking for the hidden document. Tune in to see what happens when the Capt. gets back from Vegas and finds his friends apoplectic…to grab a piece!
# Episode Five #
Captain Willis’ nemesis from the Court Marshall – Colonel Richards (guest star David Hasselhoff) – learns of Willis’ success with FINS, becomes envious, and decides to start a rival animal-based unit of pigeons that help with sea-based search and rescue missions. Things turn ugly quickly when K-Dog “accidentally” splashes Richards during a briefing to Navy Commanders. One of Col. Richards’ pigeons returns the favor by “splashing” Willis’ new uniform with a fresh coat of “white”. Just before things reach a breaking point, Willis and Richards are forced to team up and rescue Jane from a group of eco-terrorists opposed to her research.

Things are finally looking up for Captain Willis – his new unit has him back in the good graces of commanders, he hasn’t been in a bar fight in months, his bills are paid . . . and he has a date! Meanwhile, K-Dog has his own good fortune when finds a gold medallion during a routine training mission. Thinking nothing of the plain-looking find, K-Dog gives it to Captain Willis as a gift to wear on his date (chez chic!). But, the medallion turns out to have mysterious powers and causes a “hairy situation” for Willis just before his big date.
# Episode Seven #
It’s Christmas and Jane is full of “holiday spirit” after she eats several of Captain Willis’ “Mary Jane brownies” thinking they are for her. Feeling loose and free, Jane starts to get chummy with Captain Willis (who loves the new vibe from his sexy, but normally contemptuous colleague) making her ripe for an affair. When K-Dog later reveals Jane has been eating the special brownies, Willis must grapple with his own lust and his ethics. Lewis Black makes a hilarious guest appearance as both the Good Angel and Bad Angel on Willis’ shoulders during his ethical crisis.

Extreme Makeover heart-throb Ty Pennington guest stars as Doug “Doc” Johnson in his first major dramatic TV role as the college boyfriend of Jane Gatewood. The episode begins as Jane prepares to walk down the aisle on her wedding day – a series of flashbacks documents the interrupted marine-science school courtship of the young Jane and Doug and their unplanned and emotional reunion over the chemically-scarred flipper of a young UTT recruit some years later. Minutes before the ceremony, and obviously stoned Admiral Fry tells Jane that Doug always referred to her during school as “Plan B.”
