Deflections of a Dangerous Win

D.C. United beat a weak San Jose Earthquakes side today in front of a spirited, but sunburn crowd at RFK. The black-and-red were fortunate the whole game – especially when scoring. Two of United’s three goals were from deflections. Columbia defender and samba dancer Gonzalo Martinez banged home a superb goal for the game’s most genuine moment.

No street cred

I still think United is an ordinary team that is benefiting from a series of home games against weak opponents. But now things get interesting . . . LA and then Chivas (Mexican kind) come to town for the next two games. (That Open Cup game in between doesn’t count and you know it.) Two wins from those two games will convince me United is legit.

Zack Wells Couldn’t Save a Born Again Christian

Seriously. D.C. United can’t be expected to win big games if Wells doesn’t improve in a hurry. That dude gives up more scoring opportunities than a drunk sorority girl at Smith Point.

We’re Goin’ Streakin’!

Good old Emilio. He’s on a streak again and that means United can stay in games. But who will be the second scoring option? Emilio can’t run naked down the street alone!
