The two-a-days are over, the rosters are set, and now it’s time for the Real Deal. United is in Jamaica for the first leg of Cha-Cha-Cha-Cha-Champions’ Cup against Habour View on Wednesday night, while the US Men’s Olympic Team plays three qualifiers throughout the week.
Tuesday: The US plays Cuba in Tampa at 8:00 pm ET. Can Freddy, Jozy, Zizzo, and Seitz (attorneys-at-law) repeat the magic from the U20 World Cup? Will all the players from Cuba show up?
Also there is some game between a team from England and Italy that day too. Word on the street: Inter plans on wearing beige kits with “wake smith – solicitors” on ‘em just to mess with Liverpool heads.
Wednesday: DCU v Habour View. The extract “u” is for savings! Who will play while Ben is hurt? Who will start in goal? Can the new talent mesh and help United win a non-domestic title? Where is my pudding, Gertrude?!
Thursday: The US returns to the field against Panama. Nowak is not known for going to bench a lot, but he’ll need to run out a different line-up for this game. Who’s in? Who sits? Wouldn’t have been cool if the US had a player named John Frank Stevens and he routed Panama with a mazy run through the midfield for a goal? No. You’re right. That would be stupid.
Friday: Day of rest. The ACC Men’s B-Ball tourney will be in the quarterfinals. Watch that.
Saturday: The US completes the group stage of qualifying against Honduras. Will Nowak get the team to the semi-finals in Nashville?
