Iranian Leader Denies World Cup Losses
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad created controversy today by denying his country’s soccer team had any losses during the World Cup.
Citing an “American and European conspiracy,†Ahmadinejad said his team “had no losses†at the tournament. “The worldwide network of Zionists has misled the world again! Iran has not lost anything at the World Cup! We have scored fewer goals than other teams because we are treated poorly by the referees and the opposing teams, but we have not lost!â€
The Iranian President also said his country would need to enrich more uranium so it could build better soccer fields and develop better coaches and players.
Ahmadinejad concluded his speech with a call for reform, “We say the truth must be written about these games.â€
Ahmadinejad’s comments come a month after he repeated his doubts about the Jewish Holocaust of WWII. Leaders throughout the world have denounced his comments and pointed to the videos of the games as evidence of the team’s losses.
