Day 5 - White Out!

Day 5 favored the teams wearing white. Both Portugal (in the all white) and Turkey (white tops) won their games; Portugal looked particularly strong. We were happy to see Deco, one of the The Far Post’s favorite players, score early in Portugal’s win over the Czech Republic. We still recall the early goal the Czech Republic struck against the U.S. in World Cup 2006. How does it feel to be on the other end, suckers?

White Out – Part 2

Man, anyone that had Switzerland going through to the knock-out round needs to white out those (nose) picks! The Plus Signs are done! Switzerland will likely bowl a Turkey when they lose to Portugal on Sunday.

What are you groaning about, Gertrude? You constipated?

It doesn’t have to make sense!

Best Game

Mets - Diamondbacks: 5-3. Mets win in bottom of the 13th on Beltran’s (Go)Home Run. The Mets had a three run lead going into the top of the ninth, but Billy Wagner blew the save when he gave up a three-run homer to Mark Reynolds. The two teams battled for three more innings before Beltran’s homer over the right field fence ended the game.

What Gertrude? Soccer game?

Switzerland - Turkey.  The game had it all: puddles, amazing saves, a game winner in the 90th minute.  SO fun to watch.

Soccer fans warned of tick danger at Euro 2008

If you are a soccer fan going to watch Euro 2008 it could be worth having a vaccination to prevent catching a little known, but potentially fatal illness that is spread by ticks, a leading scientist warned on Saturday.

Rating for the Day

4 out of 5 Roger Federers. (To remind us the Swiss can win something.) 7 goals!
