Day 6 - Accutes and Carons for the Win
Holy ćow! Croatia looks strong. They beat a talented and formiđable Germany today. Croatia’s sećond goal was lucky, but it in many ways it was based on luck they čreated on their own. High prešsure on Germany led to a midfield turnover that allowed Croatia to keep the ball in Germany’s own enđ. Croatia smoothly worked the ball around the midfield after the turn over and found Srna on the right side. Srna (who needs to buy a vowel!) smacked a shot that hit the near post. The ball deflected fortunately to Olić, who poked in the winner. (Poking in the winner is what I call . . . never mind) It was a bit of luck, but a čhance created by their skill.
Baby Sitters
Austria missed three sitters in the first 16 minutes, which allowed Poland to hang around and steal a goal in the first half. Martin Harnik, in particular, had two terrible misses for Austria on the opening minutes. Harnik was surely ruing the day until referee Howard Webb threw the team a lifeline with a penalty call in the 90th minute. Ivica Vastic converted the chance and secured free beer for the rest of his life.

Best Game
Push. Both games were entertaining. Austria – Poland was a messy affair, but the teams were even and the end-to-end action was a fun. Croatia – Germany was good, old-fashioned technical football. The build up to Croatia’s first goal was superb and Lukas Podolski’s strike was pure power and timing.
